Adventures with Three! Things I've learned

With three wonderful and rowdy children, I have been forced into a whole new world of learning. I seriously question the usefulness of my four years at a liberal arts college. Yes, Chaucer is terribly interesting but please! Has it at all helped my daily existence? No time to even ponder. I have learned the following important information or thoughts in the last almost 5 years since I retired from my previous life and became a parent.

First and foremost, children are a blessing and a reward from the Lord. No doubt, even on our worst days when everyone is screaming, terrorizing, and pooping, I am still blessed. It beats my old coporate job any day. Hands down.

Next, in no particular order...

With three, do everything in three...shoes, feeding, and yes of course with children, we do spend an enormous amount of time in our restroom (so decorate it how you like it, you'll be there for a while!).

Crayons and scissors belong on the top shelf - maybe under lock and key.

God's protection is amazing and unending for my children from hazards such as water snakes, small chokeable objects, and crazy drivers just to name a few.

Dried boodgers chip paint when removed.

I am able to do unthinkable tasks with my left hand and feet while holding a baby.

More children, less stuff is a better option than less children and more stuff.

Children have a unique and vitally important role in the Kingdom of God.

More to come but my crew has awakened to new, exciting adventures and messes.....

  1. Elizabeth,

I agree with what you said about getting a college degree. I think too many of us (myself included) go to college and get a degree just because it's the thing to do. Those who are considering college should stop and think about whether or not it will actually help them fulfill their God-ordained purpose as a husband, wife, father, or mother.

Also, I love what you said about children being a blessing from the Lord and having an important role in the Kingdom of God. They truly are the greatest earthly treasure there is! There's no greater calling than to raise your children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord!

I'm going to put what you said here on my list of favorite quotes:
"More children, less stuff is a better option than less children and more stuff."

    Amen!
